Night Series 05 —
Landdd will be hosting a fundraiser/screening of Amrita to complete their final segment of filming in Yucatan, Mexico with indigenous mayan women.
Amrita is a documentary following the stories of three groups of women beekeepers (from Hawaii, Portugal + Mexico) whose approach to beekeeping bridges spirituality and science. This film follows their unique journeys through the modern industrial landscape as they research wild honeybees and work towards creating habitats to conserve them.

Amrita is now seeking support to finance our journey to Mexico where they will be filming with indigenous Mayan women protecting our only native honey bee to North America, the Melipona. The Mayan people have had a very sacred relationship with these stingless bees for over 10,000 years, referring to them as xuna'an kab or colel-kab ("royal lady") in the Maya language. Historically Melipona keepers were actually male shamans, but interestingly it is groups of women that have stepped forward now to work towards their conservation.' This event is designed to collect financial support and awarness for this project.

Sarah Wertzberger brings completed works, material tests, color studies and works in progress that primarily focuses on her process. She’ll have plenty of samples and tools for people to ponder over and touch.
Alongside her works, Sarah shares her background which led her to this body of textile work today and the career that she’s created for herself through art and design.
Sarah Wertzberger is an artist and designer with a multidisciplinary studio practice primarily based in weaving. Her weaving practices spans hand, industrial and digital weaving. The work takes on the intersections and thresholds between weaving, painting, printmaking, and technology and shifts perceptual values through the manipulation of material hierarchies and processes. Originating from an experimental and technical space, the work uses color and structure to convey a sense of perceptual disruption and the surreal. Wertzberger received her MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design and her BFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

From the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic to the central valley of Mexico, Javier navigates his trajectory through a curation of photographs, soundscapes and immersive projections.

In August 2022, we formed Landdd— a design and creative production studio in Portland, OR. We take on a research-based approach naturally shaped by the confluence of our own studio practices as artists in Oaxaca de Juárez and the Pacific Northwest. We offer private commissions for commercial clients and residential interiors, and produce seasonal collections of objects, textiles and campaigns centered around narratives of our respective cultures.
From working closely with master artisans across Mexico, leading creative teams with commercial agencies, organizing community events, and one-on-one projects with designers, our work is fundamentally rooted in a ︎︎︎collaborative ethos.
