We're thrilled to host Dominican designers Javier Reyes and Eleazar Ruiz, and female Latin American designers Shay Carrillo and Fernanda Navilli. Each will share their unique journeys, exploring how their Latin American roots have profoundly influenced their creative processes and shaped their remarkable careers.

What can we expect to hear?
Eleazar's journey—from his immigrant experience to his beginnings as an in-house graphic designer, culminating in the establishment of his now award-winning studio, Odd Notion—is a story he's eager to share.
Reyes joining us virturally, will discuss the history of his work as a Latin American designer, his creative process and how Latin American culture deeply impacts his work. Reyes will expand on his work with Domincan and Oaxacan artisans, the nature of textile design and its impact on the communities and the planet.
Navilli will share how her Latin American roots have fueled her insatiable curiosity, optimism, and drive. Through her journey of working across four continents and breaking boundaries in the creative industry, Fernanda will discuss how her unique perspective as a Latina has shaped her leadership style, fostering empathy and inclusivity. She will explore how growing up in Brazil and working globally has inspired her to push the limits of creativity and bring fresh, diverse perspectives to the world of experiential design and emerging tech.
Carillo the founder of Madre Linen, a brand known for its commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship, will take us through her journey of building a company that celebrates Latin American textile traditions while emphasizing the importance of ethical production.

Eleazar Ruiz is a Dominican award-winning designer and creative director. He founded Odd Notion, a B Corp and branding studio in Portland, Oregon. For over a decade, Eleazar has worked across in-house design teams, design agencies, and startups, gaining diverse experience in each sector. His client portfolio spans major brands like Nike, The Oregonian, Lyft, Microsoft, and Xbox, as well as over 100 small businesses.
Javier Reyes is a designer from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 2016 he founded Rrres, a textile design studio based in Oaxaca,Mexico, and later in 2022 co-founded Landdd, a studio and showroom based in Portland, OR. His work has been featured in SFMoMA, NYC MoMA, Vogue, Forbes, New York Times and Dwell.
Fernanda Navilli is a Brazilian creative director and maker based in Portland, Oregon. Specializing in multi-sensory experiences, she focuses on experiential design, digital innovation, and emerging tech for globally renowned brands—Nike, LG, Apple, adidas, Sony, and more. Her work spans diverse projects, from breaking boundaries in human-centered design and real-time rendering for the new PDX airport to advising SOM, a world-renowned architecture firm, on the future of technology and the role of sensory engagement in creating transformative experiences.
Shay Carrillo Founder and Chief Creative Officer, has a background in fashion styling, art direction, and photo production, which she drew upon to create Non-Perishable Goods (NPG), that she owned and operated for nine years. From NPG, MADRE was born in 2019. Shay is inspired by her ever growing children, Waldorf education, beautiful meals shared with loved ones, and the idea of a warm and inviting home that creates and expresses ritual for art, food & rest.
