Flower Building
Manu Torres

Aug 03

This in-person workshop is taught by instructor, Manu Torres, and hosted in the showroom of Landdd. Over the course of three hours, participants will build one arrangement utilizing in-season botanicals, repurposed materials, synthetics and natural fibers.

Torres will guide you through his personal process- applying simple floral design principals to create unconventional structures with playful material ingenuity. While the necessary elements will be provided for the workshop, participants are also encouraged to bring any additional ingredients or media they wish to include in their arrangements. Additionally, swap out the provided vase and opt for a handmade Landdd vessel, traditionally made from natural clays sourced in Oaxaca, from the rrres ceramic collection, Woman Arms.

As we wrap up the workshop, each student will have their arrangement photographed by Landdd for keepsake and given a carry-box for safe transportation home. We also are including take home treats from our partnerships with Proxies, Yuzu Co, KA Empathogenics, Dirtbag Bars & Lupii.

Manu Torres (b. 1983) is an artist and floral sculptor from central Mexico and based in Portland, Oregon. He is the founder of Florescent, a floral design studio, building arrangements that dialogue between the artificial and the natural. Torres incorporates paper, fabric, paint, wigs, and feathers to imitate and exaggerate natural beauty in a hyperreal way. His work has been featured in Elle Decor, Domino, and Museum of Art and Design. His recent solo exhibition at Russo Lee Gallery was an ArtForum Critic's Pick.
